Battery Housing for Pre-1955 BMW Twins & Singles, 6-volt (8-ah) batteries
Our battery housing is a hollow box that on the outside replicates the exact dimensions and appearance of an original equipment battery for 1948-1954 BMW models, found on:R51/2, R51/3, R67, R67/2, R67/3, R68, R24, R25 Series (will also fit later Euro models and Pre-War bikes). You simply put a modern battery INSIDE of it! Run the cables out through the holes in the lid, and presto — the battery on your vintage bike looks correct again!
It's the perfect Battery Disguise! Most owners of vintage BMW Motorcycles want their bikes to look as original as possible. But today's batteries, though far superior to the ones of yesteryear, don't look AT ALL like the ones that were original equipment in the 1950s. And a wrong-looking battery really stands out on an otherwise accurate restoration. Here at last is the perfect solution.
Original 6 Volt systems: We recommend the Power-Sonic 6V Sealed Battery (shown at right). Then use foam bolster padding to surround the battery and keep it from moving or bumping around inside the case. You could also wire (2) Power-Sonic 6V Sealed Batteries in parallel for more amp-hour reserve.
Upgraded 12 Volt systems: We recommend (2) of the Power-Sonic 6V Sealed Batteries (shown at right)wired in series. Then use foam bolster padding to surround the battery and keep it from moving or bumping around inside the case.

The internal dimensions (taking the cover into account) are 72x82x150 mm. The corner rounding with R = 3 mm may have to be subtracted from this.
